The wonderful world of ranunculus is filled with blousy, ruffled blooms in dreamy spring palettes - but growing them successfully from seed to bloom is not without challenges.
 
Cut flower quality ranunculus from Italy, France and a handful of other countries are available in Australia from seed, and either grown on to produce corms, or sold as baby plants which will flower and produce corms in their first season.
 
Growing ranunculus from seed is usually left to large professional plug (young plant) producers growing in temperature controlled glasshouses, and there are a few difficulties in getting the timing and conditions right when attempting at home.
